BASF recently held a Demo Field event to introduce new lettuce and spinach varieties and concepts, focusing on flavor, technology, chef's lettuce, and convenience. The company is developing new lettuce varieties that complete the growth cycle in Spain, provide greater resistance, and offer more versatility. These include Theras * and VS15 **, which are resistant to mildew and aphids and suitable for dual purposes. For spinach, BASF is developing varieties to cover the entire growing cycle, including Hydrus for summer, Dracus and Alcor for autumn-spring, and Regor * and Nembus * for winter. The company is also reinforcing its advisory service to address damping problems caused by Fusarium and other diseases in spinach.
