Belgium imported over 20 thousand tons of linseed from Kazakhstan

In the first half of the 2023/24 season, Belgium has emerged as one of the top European importers of oilseed linseed from Kazakhstan, with imports reaching approximately 20.4 thousand tons, trailing only behind China. Belgium also imported small quantities of safflower from Kazakhstan. Despite these significant trades, which include over 10 thousand tons of grain and processed products exported to Belgium over the past three seasons, the bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and Belgium is still considered to be below its potential. This issue was addressed in a meeting between Kairat Torebayev, Kazakhstan's Vice Minister of Trade and Integration, and Rose Donk from the Belgian Agency for Foreign Trade, where they discussed enhancing trade relations and organizing a business forum in Belgium involving 200 enterprises from both countries. This initiative aims to rejuvenate the economic ties since the last Belgian economic mission to Kazakhstan in 2010, with plans for a new mission in the near future.
