Vietnam has started exporting fresh Vietnamese coconuts to China, making it the 15th country to receive Vietnamese coconuts. Vietnam is the 6th largest producer of coconuts globally, producing around 1.9 million tons per year. The country exports over 26.7 million coconuts per year to 14 countries. China, with a population of over 1.4 billion people and domestic demand meeting only 10%, is a potential large market for Vietnamese coconut products. Ben Tre province, the largest coconut grower in Vietnam, has received export codes for 133 growing areas and 14 packaging facilities to export to China. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has requested strict compliance with food safety, quality, and plant quarantine regulations.
