Fishermen in Binh Thuan, Vietnam, are experiencing excitement due to a successful anchovy season, which has seen high yields and stable selling prices. The season, which started in July, has led to a significant increase in catches compared to previous years, with each boat bringing in 7 to 8 quintals. The anchovies are purchased by traders at Phan Thiet fishing port for around 300,000 VND per large basket, and can fetch up to 350,000 VND for high-quality, large specimens. These anchovies are not only used for export after drying, but also serve as the main raw material for salting and fish sauce, a product with a two-century-long tradition in Binh Thuan.
