Poland's Chief Veterinary Inspectorate has confirmed a new outbreak of bird flu, marking the 30th outbreak in the country this year and the fourth this month. The outbreak was confirmed on a commercial farm in Starkowiec Piątkowski, Środa Wielkopolska, which was housing 1,377,531 laying hens. The strain of the bird flu is HPAI with the H5N1 avian influenza virus subtype. The total number of poultry affected by these outbreaks has reached 2,121,660 as of October 22, 2024.
