A severe outbreak of avian flu, caused by the H5N1 strain, was reported at a turkey farm near Brasov, Romania, leading to the activation of local and national health authorities. In response, a protection and surveillance zone was established, involving the collaboration of various agencies and authorities to manage the situation and prevent the spread of the virus. The measures include the isolation of the affected farm, restrictions on the movement of people, animals, and transport within a 10 km radius, and increased surveillance of other poultry farms. Additionally, Romania has intensified its surveillance and monitoring of domestic and wild birds across its EU border crossing points due to the increased prevalence of avian flu in Europe. So far, two outbreaks have been confirmed at the same economic agent's farms, with concerns about a potential secondary outbreak, highlighting the serious efforts being made to control the spread of the disease.
