The Environmental Police and Airport Police seized over 400 kilos of illegal speck fish, valued at more than ten million pesos, during routine search tasks on parcel packages from a commercial flight from Leticia. The fish, which is prohibited for consumption since 2017 due to its harmful effects on health, contains high levels of mercury that can accumulate in the brain, liver, and kidneys. The authorities are now working to find the traffickers responsible for the dangerous species and have taken the seizure to the competent authorities for further action.
