Ukraine saw a significant increase in corn exports, with over 20% growth reaching more than 1 million tons in the week ending December 24, despite being 20% lower than 2019. Wheat exports were steady at over 150,000 tons, totaling 12.4 million tons, but below last year's figures. Barley exports increased by 1% from last year, totaling 3.7 million tons.
Brazil experienced a six-year low in soybean exports, with only 181.5 million tons exported in the first three weeks of December, the lowest since December 2014. Despite this slowdown, demand from China is expected to drive growth in the coming year. Brazil also set a record for corn exports in December, increasing by 500 thousand tons to a total of 4.41 million tons.
Syria's wheat crop grew by 27% from last year, reaching nearly 3 million tons, but falls short of the 4.7 million tonnes required to meet demand. Barley harvest was sufficient to meet domestic demand, with a 13% increase in yield and additional stock from the previous year.
