Greenhouse watermelon and melon production is expected to decrease by 20% and 10% respectively from the previous week due to limited production starting from week 25. Recent rainfall and cold temperatures in Europe have led to a drop in watermelon prices, while melon prices have remained stable due to production in Italy. The Piel de Sapo melon has significantly depreciated, causing marketing difficulties for farmers not in cooperatives. The prices of large-caliber yellow melons have also fallen due to their lack of appeal in the European market. However, cantaloup melons maintain stable prices and volumes. Outdoor melon and watermelon production in Almeria and the Region of Murcia is expected to begin in week 23, contributing moderate volumes initially. The weighted average price for watermelon and melon farmers is currently €0.41/kg and €0.64/kg respectively, with other vegetables like eggplant, zucchini, cucumber, and tomato also having specific prices.
