Brazil celebrates 10 years of International Coffee Day

The International Coffee Day, established by the International Coffee Organization (ICO) on October 1, 2015, will mark its tenth anniversary in 2025. The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) has highlighted the importance of coffee, which is among the main products of the Brazilian agribusiness. Through the Coffee Economy Defense Fund (Funcafé), created in 1986 and regulated in 1987, the government seeks to financially support the production, commercialization, and working capital of the sector. The initiative is managed by the Agricultural Policy Secretariat of Mapa and, according to the ministry, guarantees "liquidity, predictability, and rapid response to climatic or market crises." Funcafé has credit lines for roasters, solution industries, and cooperatives, as well as projects aimed at innovation and sustainability, such as logistics reversal, waste reuse, and reduction of industrial losses.
