Brazil's rice exports face a drop in October

Brazil exported 122.9 thousand tons of rice (husk base) in October 2024, generating revenue of US$ 47.1 million, according to data released by the Brazilian Rice Industry Association (Abiarroz), based on information from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC). Despite the significant volume, exports fell by 39.7% compared to the same month in 2023, when Brazil exported 203.8 thousand tons. In terms of revenue, the reduction was 34.5%, since revenue in October last year was US$ 65.6 million. In the milled rice segment, exports also declined. In October 2024, Brazil shipped 81.9 thousand tons, with revenue of US$ 26.9 million. This volume represented a 53.2% drop compared to the same period last year, while revenue fell by 48.7%.
