The European Commission has proposed increasing hake catches by 10% in the Cantabrian Sea and Portuguese waters in 2024, as well as introducing multi-annual quotas for nine fish stocks, such as haddock and sole. The proposal includes Total Allowable Catches (TACs) and quotas for eighteen fish stocks. However, certain fish populations, including pollock, are facing significant reductions in catches, with decreases of up to 53% proposed for 2024 and 2025.
