The Brazilian Special Coffees Association (BSCA) expressed concern after the new executive order signed by United States President Donald Trump last Friday (14). The measure, which adjusts the "scope of application of the reciprocal tariff" on agricultural products, did not entirely eliminate the 50% tariff applied to Brazilian coffees, especially specialty coffees exported to the North American market. The White House's decision only removed the 10% reciprocal tax on the import of national coffee but maintained the additional 40% included in August, which continue to pressure trade between the two countries. For the BSCA, the persistence of this high tariff increases distortions, reduces competitiveness, and deepens the losses for Brazilian producers. The impacts are already showing in the numbers.
