The article highlights the extension of the restriction on the movement of small ruminants out of Bulgaria, Romania, and Greece until September 2025, September 2025, and October 2025 respectively, due to the ongoing small ruminant plague (PPR) and sheep and goat pox outbreaks. Despite these restrictions, unregulated animal trade persists, worsening the disease situation. Additionally, an unprecedented epizootic situation in the EU and Germany, with foot-and-mouth disease in cloven-hoofed animals, has been noted since 2025. The article emphasizes the ongoing and endemic nature of these diseases in specific countries, including Turkey, and the severe impact on animal health and trade. Measures to control these diseases have been implemented, with varying degrees of success.
