Bulgaria has emerged as a significant exporter of fish and fish products, including black caviar, with Romania and Sweden being its primary markets. This growth is attributed to the implementation of modern technologies under the Maritime and Fisheries Program (PMDR) 2014-2020. The country's total fish export in 2023 was 14.4 thousand tons. One fishing enterprise in Pazardzhik, aided by the PMDR, has executed 11 projects worth over BGN 3 million, supported by the Local Initiative Fishing Group. The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food praised the enterprise's competitiveness and environmental sustainability, highlighting the contribution of aquaculture to Bulgaria's fisheries sector.
