The National Meat Association in Russia predicts a rise in meat consumption per person to 83 kg in 2024, up from 80 kg in 2023, with pork consumption expected to become as popular as poultry due to its increasing accessibility and lower costs. The production of poultry, pork, and beef is also anticipated to rise, making Russia the fourth largest poultry and pork producer and top ten beef producer globally. The country has also seen a significant shift in its meat trade balance, becoming a net exporter of meat and meat products to over 60 countries, including Asia and Africa, with China presenting a significant market opportunity. This shift comes after the introduction of pro-dembargo measures in 2014, which led to the development of the turkey farming industry and a reduction in imports of certain agricultural products.
