The average purchase price of live pigs in Poland decreased by 11% compared to the previous month, but increased by 1% compared to the same week last year, according to BNP Paribas expert Magdalena Kowalewska. The first half of the year saw rising livestock prices, reaching their peak in June, but prices dropped during the holiday months. The decline in domestic demand for pork is attributed to inflationary pressure, and Poland has had a negative trade balance in pork for many years, with a trade deficit of -151.78 thousand tons.
