By 2030, red currants may overtake strawberries in production volumes in Russia - "Rosselkhozbank"

The production of currants is forecast to grow 2.7 times, to 16,000 tons. Berry production in Russia in 2030 is expected to exceed the current figure by 1.8 times. If in 2025 the berry harvest in the country grew by almost 40% to the level of 2024 and amounted to 29.1 thousand tons, in the next five years it can reach 52 thousand. These data were provided by the Industry Expertise Center of Rosselkhozbank. The main Russian berry is the strawberry (garden strawberry). Currently, its share in domestic production is about 40% (12.7 thousand tons). The main producers are located in the Krasnodar Territory, Kabardino-Balkaria, Moscow, and Lipetsk regions. In 2030, Russia may harvest almost 16 thousand tons of this berry, that is, the strawberry harvest will be a quarter more. However, its share will fall to a third.
