Vegetable and fruit prices in Cairo have remained stable after the Eid Al-Fitr holiday, with tomatoes ranging from 2.5 to 3 pounds per kilo, potatoes from 2 to 2.5 pounds per kilo, and onions from 2 to 2.5 pounds per kilogram. The high price of lemons, currently between 25 to 30 pounds per kilo, is expected to decline starting from August due to increased supply. Okra prices have also decreased by 25 to 30% due to increased supply. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, prices of basic commodities have remained stable with an increase in agricultural crops exports, which have reached 5 million tons. The prices of apricots, peaches, grapes, and Cantaloupe have increased by about 10 to 15% due to weather conditions, but are expected to return to normal levels with stable weather and decreased sales after Eid Al-Fitr.
