Cambodia ranks third in the world in cashew growing area

Cambodia's cashew growing area has increased sharply in recent times and is now the third largest in the world. Cambodia is also the largest source of raw cashew nuts for Vietnam. According to the Vietnam Trade Office in Cambodia, speaking at the official launch of the document “Cashew growing area in Cambodia in 2024”, Mr. Ngin Chhay, Director General of the General Department of Agriculture of Cambodia, said that the area of cashew growing in Cambodia is estimated at 580,117 hectares, ranking third in the world in terms of the area of this crop. The provinces with the largest cashew growing areas include Kampong Thom, Kratie, Stung Treng, Siem Reap, Kampong Cham, Oddar Meanchey, Mondulkiri, Ratanakiri, Preah Vihear, Tbong Khmum and Kampong Chhnang.
