Cameroon faces crop destruction alert amid weather crisis

The National Observatory on Climate Change (Onacc) in Cameroon has issued a warning regarding upcoming adverse weather conditions, including heavy rains and strong winds, expected to hit the country from June 1 to 10. These weather conditions could cause significant damage to plantations and fruit trees across various regions. The Western and Northwestern regions are particularly at risk due to potential hailstorms during the rainy season, while the Central and Eastern regions face threats to palm groves and banana plantations. The Coastal and Southwestern regions are also vulnerable. In response, Onacc is advising the population to adhere to the agricultural calendar published by a state agency to mitigate the impact on farming activities.
