The National Cocoa and Coffee Board (NCCB) has reported a decrease in cocoa processing and by-product production by local transformers during the 2020-2021 cocoa season, with a total of 82.7 tons of cocoa processed, a decrease of 12.8 tons from the previous season. Small-scale local transformers produced 66.7 tons of caramel, cocoa butter, and cocoa cakes, a decrease of seven tons, while industrial transformers saw an increase in performance, processing 62,341 tons of cocoa, up by 3.3%, with Atlantic Cocoa's new processing plant being a significant contributor.
