Cassava production in Brazil's Center-South region saw a decline in 2022 due to a reduction in planted area and adverse climate conditions, leading to a decrease in production by 0.3% to 1.27 million tons. The area harvested for cassava also saw a decrease of 0.6% to 1.2 million hectares, and productivity fell by 0.9% to 14.8 tons per hectare. Despite these challenges, the demand for cassava remained strong due to its commercialization as flour and starch, resulting in price records on Cepea and intense competition among companies.
