The European Commission is preparing to harmonize olive oil and seed oil marketing standards with the International Olive Council, with a public consultation open until 15/1/2024, according to SEVITEL. Amendments to EU olive oil marketing standards will be based on changes to the International Olive Council's IOC TRADE STANDARD, with SEVITEL closely monitoring and informing its member companies. Participation from companies in the standardization and export sector, as well as representatives from the primary sector, will strengthen arguments in consultations and protect olive products from potential changes in mineral aromatic hydrocarbons and sterol limits.
