Tridge summary

Poor communities in the Rangpur agricultural region of Bangladesh are experiencing profitability from pumpkin farming on char lands and dried-up riverbeds, a practice aided by intercropping and relay methods. This initiative, supported by various organizations, aims to help them overcome the economic challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and recovery from flood damages. By cultivating pumpkins alongside other Rabi crops, thousands of families have successfully improved their livelihoods, with plans to harvest by May and sell the produce for profit. The low farming costs and high profit margins of pumpkin cultivation have made it a popular choice among farmers, especially in areas where other crops require pesticides, thereby facing restrictions.
