The article reports on the commencement of chickpea harvesting in Kayseri, a city in Anatolia, Turkey, which has become a significant hub for agriculture and animal husbandry, ranking 5th in Turkey in grain and plant product production. The Kayseri Agricultural Land Use Activation (TAKE) Project has supported the cultivation of chickpeas across 29 thousand decares, leading to increased production and farmer happiness. The article highlights the collaboration between various stakeholders, including the Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, Bülent Saklav, and the Chambers of Agriculture, in providing grant seeds and financial support to farmers. The initiative aims to increase chickpea production by reducing fallow lands and encouraging more farmers to engage in the activity, with positive feedback from those who have planted the seeds.
