Chilean salmon expands to new countries and adds another destination market

Salmon exports are key to the national economy and to those regions that boast strong aquaculture. In 2023 alone, shipments of this food exceeded US$6 billion. And now, along with markets such as the United States, Brazil and Russia, Australia is opening up as a new destination country for Chilean salmon. The news was released by ProChile, which indicated that after a long audit by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) of the Australian government, it was notified of the recognition of our country for “export of processed salmonids” to Australia. In this sense, the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service (Sernapesca) will be the competent authority for the certification of these exports.
