Chile has been approved by Australia to export processed salmon, including Atlantic and Silver or Coho salmon, following a detailed audit by the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. This approval, announced by ProChile, makes Chile one of the countries meeting Australia's biosecurity standards for salmonid import, a significant achievement for Chile's salmon industry, which exported over $6 billion worth of salmon in 2023 and is projecting a total of $4.1 billion for the current year. The National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service (Sernapesca) will oversee the certification of these exports. Australia's decision expands Chile's salmon export markets, already serving about 76 countries, including the United States, Brazil, Russia, China, and the European Union.
