The June 2024 Analysis Report by the Dairy Economic Research Office highlights a significant decline in China's dairy imports from January to May 2024, with a 15% drop in total imports and a 24.6% decrease in import value. Notable declines were seen in bulk powder and infant formula milk powder, while imports of cheese, cream, condensed milk, and milk protein increased. In May 2024 alone, dairy imports fell by 17.6% year-on-year. Dairy exports increased by 20.4% in volume but decreased by 2.3% in value, with Hong Kong being the main destination. Additionally, oat hay imports surged by 203.7%, and the average price of dairy imports decreased by 3.5% compared to the previous year.
