China, the global leader in garlic supply, consumption, and export, experienced a significant drop in garlic exports in February 2022, with a 49.7% monthly and 21.8% annual decrease, reaching a six-year low. The exports, which amounted to 208,900 tonnes, saw a total value of EUR 196 million. Despite the decline, the average export price for fresh or chilled garlic rose by 2.5% monthly and 1.5% annually to EUR 958 per tonne, and for dried garlic, it increased by 2.9% monthly and 7% annually to EUR 2,606 per tonne, marking a consistent upward trend since September 2021.
