In 2022, China's green fodder imports saw a 2.6% decrease but a significant 31% increase in prices. The majority of the imports, around 92%, were dried alfalfa, with the US being the primary supplier, despite a 2.2% drop. The price of alfalfa from the US rose by 33.8% to $541 per ton. Spain and South Africa were also significant exporters, with increases in price despite lower costs compared to the US. The rest of China's imports consisted of dried oats, mainly from the US.
