In September 2024, Colombia saw a notable increase in its cattle and meat exports despite a decrease in volumes compared to the previous year. The country exported 153,649 heads of cattle, generating revenue of US$119.1 million, and shipped 14,957 tons of meat, earning US$60.8 million. This marks the first time meat exports surpassed 3,000 tons in a month in 2024. Iraq, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Venezuela were the main importers of Colombian cattle, while Russia, China, South America, El Salvador, Curacao, Hong Kong, Egypt, Iraq, Libya, and Saudi Arabia were the key buyers of Colombian meat. The growth in meat exports to China is particularly noteworthy, as it replaced Chile as the second-largest market for Colombian meat following the reopening of the Chinese market in October 2023.
