2022 has been a record year for Vietnamese agricultural exports, with significant breakthroughs in accessing markets in China, Japan, and New Zealand. Notable approvals include temporary regulations for passion fruit, durian and banana imports to China, and the green light for lemon and grapefruit imports to New Zealand. Furthermore, Japan has permitted fresh Vietnamese longans. This success is attributed to the country's suitability for tropical fruit growth and the fulfillment of import conditions regarding plant quarantine and hygiene. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development plans to export the first batches of these products and will provide training to stakeholders on import requirements. The Plant Protection Department will support exporters to ensure smooth delivery of products to consumers in the new markets.
