China has initiated a comprehensive bioengineering project in Xinjiang, aimed at revolutionizing cotton cultivation through a 15 million yuan investment. Led by the Economic Crops Research Institute of the Xinjiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, in collaboration with the Western Agricultural Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the project will establish a biological breeding platform to enhance local cotton varieties' resilience to environmental pressures like soil salinity and heat. This initiative, part of a larger series of scientific projects, underscores China's dedication to agricultural innovation, focusing on sustainable solutions to meet the challenges of environmental stresses in agriculture.
