CHP deputies Gürsel Erol and Ömer Fethi Gürer met with sugar beet producers in Elazığ to address their concerns. Erol criticized the government's prioritization of Syrian refugees over farmers, stating that if 10% of the funding for refugees was allocated to farmers, Turkey would be a thriving agricultural nation. Gürer highlighted the plight of sugar beet farmers, who have suffered financial losses this year due to low product prices and lack of support. The deputies appealed for the minimum price of sugar beet to be set at 2,500 liras, pointing out the potential for the industry to contribute to various products like sugar, meles, alcohol, and pulp. The farmers expressed their struggles with increasing costs and decreasing production, suggesting that goods should be exported to improve their living standards.
