The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) has partnered with the Indian Centre for Agricultural Research (ICAR) to develop new wheat varieties with superior yield and disease resistance. Nine such varieties have been released, with more showing wide adaptation and high yield stability. These collaborations are supported by projects like Accelerating Genetic Gains in Maize and Wheat (AGG), aiming to increase genetic gain for yield and grain zinc levels in new varieties. The popularity of these collaborations is reflected in the record-breaking demand for three new varieties in Breeders Seed Indent.
