An online seminar, titled "FTA Leads Thai Agriculture Through COVID-19, Entering the Dragon Market and the Land of Bharata", was conducted by the Department of International Trade Negotiations to instruct farmers on utilizing Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 crisis. The seminar aimed to provide strategic insights for agricultural and processed food exports to the large markets of China and India. The deputy minister of commerce, Sinit Lertkrai, emphasized the importance of maintaining product quality and safe production practices to distinguish Thai products in these markets. Since the implementation of FTAs with China and India in 2005 and 2004, respectively, Thai exports to these countries have seen substantial growth, reaching over 8,428 million US dollars in the first five months of 2021, a 20% increase from the previous year.
