Thailand is experiencing a temporary shortage of bottled palm oil due to increased production costs and tight control over smuggling. As a result, the price of crude palm oil has surged by 39 baht per kg, leading to a significant increase in the market price of bottled palm oil. However, the Department of Internal Trade is monitoring the situation closely to prevent a shortage and ensure fair pricing. In the meantime, consumers are being advised to switch to alternative oils until the situation stabilizes. The Department of Foreign Trade is also implementing measures to prevent smuggling of crude palm oil. This situation provides an opportunity for palm farmers to increase their income, and it is expected that the market will return to normal in March 2021.
