The Brazilian Program for the Modernization of the Horticultural Market (Prohort) has reported significant price drops for carrots, papayas, and potatoes in the country's wholesale markets in May. Carrots saw the largest decrease of 21.23%, followed by papayas with 17.09%, and potatoes with a decline in prices resuming from earlier in the year. On the other hand, prices for lettuce, onions, and tomatoes were not uniform across Supply Centers. Meanwhile, the prices for oranges and papayas fell, while apples and watermelons became more expensive due to supply control and colder weather affecting production, respectively. Banana prices remained stable with a slight increase in the supply of certain varieties in several regions.
