Updated Jun 25, 2023
Omar Awad, director of the meat sector at the Egyptian Sudanese Company for Development and Multiple Investments, revealed in a special statement to Al-Mal that about 3,000 head of cattle had been received from Kenya for the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade during the past few days. Al-Mal had published in its issue dated Tuesday, June 20, 2020, according to well-informed sources in the Egyptian Sudanese Company for Development and Multiple Investments, about the company’s intention to import frozen and chilled meat from Kenya. According to the sources, this is a result of the state of Kenya being distinguished by its good pastures, which produce livestock of high quality, comparable to local meat. The director of the meat sector at the Egyptian Sudanese Company for Development and Multiple Investments said that the shipment that was contracted from Kenya was 300 heads per shipment. Awad added that the contracted quantities will be offered at the outlets of the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade at a price lower than those in the local market, as part of the ministry's preparations for the blessed Eid al-Adha. Awad explained that these 3,000 Kenyan cattle will be offered as mutton meat in the branches of consumer complexes.
