The Rural Development Administration in South Korea is spearheading a project to enhance the domestic wheat industry by increasing the wheat self-sufficiency rate from 1.3% in 2022 to 8% by 2027. This initiative involves establishing five milling facilities to produce high-quality domestic wheat flour, promoting its excellence over imported varieties. The project collaborates with local governments to create a stable supply chain for premium wheat varieties and aims to boost domestic demand through regional food product development and branding. Additionally, efforts are being made to improve agricultural technologies, post-harvest storage, and distribution quality management to meet consumer and business needs by 2029.
