The Consumer Protection Agency in Egypt has initiated an investigation into reports that some brands of chocolate in the market contain poppy drugs. The agency will analyze samples of chocolate sold in markets in collaboration with the General Authority for Food Safety to ensure compliance with standard specifications and to prevent the sale of any food product that could harm consumers. This action follows concerns raised by a former president of Cairo University about the sale of chocolate containing poppy in markets, malls, and gas stations, despite it being forbidden to consume such products knowingly due to poppy drug content.
