The Tacna region in Peru saw a 22% increase in exports in 2020, totaling $439 million, due to higher sales of minerals, primarily copper and gold, driven by increased international prices. The region also set a record in agricultural exports, reaching $66 million, with olives, oregano, and noodles being the main products. The main markets for these exports were Canada, Japan, and Chile. The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) approved the Regional Exporting Plan of Tacna (PERX Tacna) to promote non-traditional exports. However, trade through the Tacna customs fell by 24% in 2020 due to a decrease in exports of squid and cotton garments, and a 25% drop in imports.
