Brazil will be able to export Brazil nuts to Costa Rica, according to a joint statement from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Foreign Relations (MRE). The sanitary approval is for the entry of the Brazilian product with and without the shell, according to the ministries.
"Brazil nuts, one of the main products of the Amazonian sociobiodiversity, are sustainably extracted by traditional communities and internationally recognized for their nutritional value. In addition to generating income and promoting regional development, the nuts contribute to the conservation of standing forests, strengthening the country's image as a supplier of quality food of sustainable origin," the ministries highlighted in the statement.
Brazil exported US$ 272 million in agricultural products to Costa Rica in 2024, with a focus on cereals, flours, preparations, and the soybean complex, according to trade balance data.
This year, the country has accumulated 143 market openings for national agricultural products.
