The 'Beyond Cotton Project' in Tanzania, funded by the Brazilian Cooperation Agency and managed by the World Food Programme (WFP), Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute, and the Tanzania Cotton Board, aims to support around 8,400 smallholder farmers in improving their profit from cotton and diversifying their crops. The project will be focused in three districts, with 50% of the beneficiaries being youth, 30% women, and 20% men. The project's goals include increasing cotton productivity, strengthening value chains, linking farmers to premium markets, and ensuring nutrition security. This initiative is part of WFP's five-year Country Strategic Plan, which aims to address food and nutrition security through market-based interventions, human capital development, and promoting climate change adaptation.
