Vietnamese crab exports to China saw a dramatic increase in January, reaching 19 million USD, a 12-fold increase compared to the same period last year, as reported by the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP). This surge might be attributed to a decrease in supply from countries like Indonesia, the Philippines, and India. The growth in crab exports to China could be indicative of a strong demand for high-end seafood products among China's upper class, despite economic uncertainties. In 2024, crab exports to China - Hong Kong experienced a significant recovery and growth, reaching 122.5 million USD. VASEP is optimistic about the future of Vietnamese crab exports to the Chinese market, predicting 2025 to be a promising year.
