Argentina: Customs set a reference price for the export of garlic

The General Directorate of Customs established reference values for the export of garlic, ranging from 50 cents to US $ 1.84 FOB per kilogram, depending on the variety, size and destination. It is a provision that aims to safeguard tax revenues. From the productive sector they state that the measure is positive, but they emphasize that it is necessary to update the values each season, so that they adjust to the reality of the market. Last week, the General Resolution of AFIP 4969/2021 was published in the Official Gazette, which sets export reference values "of a precautionary nature", as a first control of the declarations "in protection of fiscal interest", to detect deviations with respect to the usual values for identical or similar goods.
