The Dairy Division in Damietta, along with local dairy suppliers and factories, has set the maximum supply price for cow and buffalo milk at 11.5 and 15 pounds per kilo, respectively, to prevent price speculation and disputes. The prices may be revised in mid-January 2023, with the aim to provide fair pricing and improve market stability. The government is also investing in the development of the dairy sector, including dairy centers, manufacturers, and farms, and is considering an additional EGP 10 billion funding for livestock at low interest rates. The government's efforts include setting up 826 milk collection centers to ensure the provision of healthy and safe food for citizens, with plans to increase dairy production for economic benefits.
