In 2022, Lithuania experienced a peak in raw milk prices in July and August, but they decreased in autumn despite an increase in the 'natural' price due to higher dry substances in milk. By February, the purchase prices had dropped by 20% by December and 30% by August, reaching a level equivalent to that in Ukraine in February. This situation concerns Lithuanian farmers, who say the purchase prices have dropped below the cost price and are protesting the low prices through actions like pouring milk onto fields and giving it out to consumers.
