At least that has been the trend reflected in the first half of the year according to DANE figures compiled by Fedegán-FNG. Between January 1 and June 30, 45,974 tons of products made from liquid milk have entered for a CIF value of USD 169,896,000. (Read: Dairy imports until May were 80% more expensive than those of the same period of 2021) This volume is 50.2% higher than the 30,602 tons recorded in the first half of 2021, but almost double the USD 89.6 million it cost (+98.5%). The average cost of each ton also rose: it went from 3,000 dollars to 3,695 between one period and another. The report carried out by the Office of Planning and Economic Studies of Fedegán-FNG with the figures of the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) revealed an even more worrying fact: in 6 months, the imports of 2017 and 2018 were already exceeded.
