Demand for Ukrainian sunflower in the export direction may increase in the near future

Starting from January 1 to April 30, 2025, Turkey will eliminate the duty on the import of sunflower seeds within a tariff quota, which currently has an 8% import duty. In Ukraine, the oilseed export licensing regime has been abolished, replaced by a minimum price mechanism, although licensing is still required for exports to Bulgaria and four other EU countries. The demand for Ukrainian sunflower seeds in the export market is expected to rise due to this. The price of sunflower seeds in Ukraine has slowed its decline, but further price drops in the sunflower oil export market have led processors to review their raw material purchase prices.
